Admission to engineering courses in India will be offered on the basis of an assessment at the provincial, state & university level.

JEE Main is a nationwide exam administered for admission to B.Tech & B.Arch courses at the national level.

The NTA manages this exam via the online mode. In order to get admitted into these classes, certain states will also schedule a state-level entry examination.

These exams are AP EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh State), Assam CEE (Assam State), BCECE (Bihar State), JEECE (Andhra Pradesh State), Assam CEE (Assam State) (Jharkhand State).

There are still too many colleges that run their own acceptance exam for admission to the UG engineering program.

Upon qualifying for JEE Primary, entry to the IITs would be dependent on JEE Advanced. Students have to pass the GATE test for entry to the M.Tech program.
